7 Easy Tips to Follow for Better Sleep

Here you are again, you’ve had a long, exhausting day and its finally time to rest your sleepy head on your silk pillow but just like clockwork, your eyes are wide open and the struggle to fall asleep begins.

Sleep is a powerful thing for your health and wellbeing as it lets your mind recharge while your body gets the much-needed rest it needs to repair.

Like most things in life, it’s the small things that can make the biggest difference and this also applies to sleep!

Here are 7 easy tips to follow for better sleep!

1. Move your body

We all know the importance of exercise for wellbeing but did you know it can also have a positive impact on your sleep?

Try waking up early to get your workout in to avoid putting it off in the afternoon. This can also help you avoid sleep-ins, which can have a negative impact on your sleeping pattern.

If you find it daunting to hit the gym or book in for a pump class, try going for a morning walk or at home yoga session; any movement is good movement.

Try diluting and applying Peppermint essential oil to your temples and neck before your daily fitness. The refreshing aroma will give you a boost of positivity!

2. Consistency is key

Do you see results with fitness if you exercise once in a blue moon? Unfortunately, the answer is no and the same thing applies to sleep.

It is important to wake up and go to bed at the same time every day. Being consistent reinforces your body’s sleep-wake cycle.

YL TIP: Select a morning and evening essential oil to help enhance your daily routine. Lemon essential oil is perfect for the morning with its energising aroma, while RutaVaLa essential oil is a must for the evening as it has relaxing properties.

3. Switch up your environment

Creating a soothing environment is an important factor when it comes to restful sleep. After all, there is nothing better than a fresh set of sheets and a calming linen spray.

Try creating your own essential oil spray to use on your sheets before bed. Here is one of our favourites below!

Sweet Dreams Spray:

  • Distilled water
  • Spray bottle
  • 10 drops Lavender essential oil
  • 10 drops Cedarwood essential oil
  • Fill spray bottle with water and add essential oils.
  • Shake and sprits spray onto your pillow before going to bed to help support a restful sleep.

4. Wind-down

Try to schedule some you time before bed to wind down after a busy day of kicking your goals!

Take a warm soothing bath or shower before bedtime; try adding 10 drops of Frankincense essential oil and 1 cup of Epsom salt to a bath to create a relaxing environment.

5. Journal

Why is it that your mind will be free of worries until the moment your head hits the pillow?

If your mind is racing with ideas, scenarios or worries, it’s important to get these thoughts on paper to rest your mind to encourage a more positive bedtime experience.

Diffuse Cedarwood to create a comforting atmosphere while you write, you can also dilute and rub a couple of drops between your palms and inhale directly.

6. Meditation

Shortly before bedtime, try a relaxation strategy that incorporates mindfulness, such as yoga or meditation, all of which boost sleep time and quality.

Apply the soothing aroma of Peace & Calming® Roll-On to create a relaxing environment for your practice.

7. Ditch the tech

The light from your phone screen can trick your mind and body into thinking it’s still light out. Try switching Instagram Reels for your favourite book to help you shift into a calm, relaxed and clear state.
